What the DTF edge cleaner fixes
- A white outline that traces the shape of your design on dark shirts
- A dusty white fringe around soft edges like hair, fur or smoke
- White specks in areas that should be empty
- A thin color fringe left over from the original background
How to clean DTF edges in 3 steps
- Upload your PNG. Drag it in, paste it, or pick the file. PNG, JPG and WebP work.
- Check the green overlay. Every pixel that would print a white edge is highlighted in bright green. Move the threshold slider and watch them disappear in real time.
- Export. You get one ZIP with the cleaned color layer, a matching white underbase layer, a preview on a dark background, and a short report. Send the layers to your RIP and print as usual.
Why DTF transfers get a white edge
When you remove a background in Canva, remove.bg or Photoshop, the edge of the subject is left with a thin band of semi-transparent pixels. You can't see them on screen, but your RIP treats any pixel that isn't fully transparent as "put white ink here". White ink goes down under that band, the powder sticks to it, and after pressing you get a white edge around the design.
Raising the white choke in your RIP only shrinks the white layer; it can't see the semi-transparent pixels, so the edge comes back. The fix is to clean the file itself. Read the full explanation of the DTF white edge →
Try it on the design that's giving you trouble
The green overlay shows you exactly where the white edge comes from, before you waste a sheet of film.

The cleaner outputs standard PNG files, so it works with any DTF printer and RIP:
- Epson-based DTF printers (L1800 and L1300 conversions, Procolored, A4 and A3 DTF)
- Industrial DTF such as Mutoh, Mimaki and Roland
- RIP software such as CADlink Digital Factory, AcroRIP, Caldera, Onyx and ColorGATE
- UV and UV DTF printers like the eufyMake E1, which get the same white-edge problem

Frequently asked questions
What is a DTF edge cleaner?
A DTF edge cleaner removes the semi-transparent pixels left around a design after background removal. Your DTF printer lays white ink under every one of those pixels, which shows up as a white edge on the shirt. Cleaning them from the PNG before it reaches the RIP removes the white edge for good.
Does it work with files from Canva or remove.bg?
Yes. Those tools are the most common source of the problem: they leave a soft, semi-transparent fringe around the subject. Upload the PNG they give you and the cleaner removes that fringe.
Will it change the colors of my design?
Only the edge pixels are touched. Their color is replaced with the average of the solid pixels next to them, which removes leftover color from the old background. Everything inside the design keeps its original color.
Is the DTF edge cleaner free?
Yes. You get 3 free exports to start, then 2 more every day. If you clean a lot of files, Pro is a one-time $20 payment for unlimited exports and batch processing. It is not a subscription.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. The cleaning runs entirely in your browser, so your designs never leave your computer.
